"My husband and I bought a home in Slaughter Beach in 2004 and chose it to be our permanent residence when we retired in 2019. I’ve never lived in such a small town before and was delighted to find there is so much to get involved in with others. The historical society is an excellent opportunity to meet folks, get involved working with others, remain productive, and contribute to the betterment of our lovely community. You can be as active as you want to be, and there’s work to be done on all levels. I encourage you consider participating whether it’s researching, fund raising, interviewing long-time residents, or helping with office needs. It’s rewarding and fun!"

“After a 40-year career in laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases both in hospitals and Public Health, I have turned my "detective instinct" to researching local History. As part of the newly formed Slaughter Beach Historical Society, I have learned so much about this place I have been coming to for more than 50 years…. walking in the footsteps of our ancestors! The SBHS is a work in progress, hoping to establish a website and small museum in the near future, and maybe eventually a book."

"I moved from Broadkill to Slaughter Beach in 2009. I'd owned a lot here since 2005 and was already getting adapted by planting dune grass for 5 years. It was an interesting change moving to this small town with history going back to 1681. The first year I was here I happened to meet Dave Kenton, a man who was the Town Historian for Milford, but also knew alot about Slaughter Beach. It was fascinating, and he gave me a whole series of articles that he and others had written about Slaughter Beach history. The more I learned from him, the more I got interested, so when the idea of a History Committee was floated 2 years ago, I decided would join, with areas of interest including American Indians who had lived in the area, the flora and fauna of the beach, and geologic history of the whole coastal Bay area. So that's where I am now, eager to keep researching more of the town history and its many interesting characters and events."

"Linda was born and raised in the Milford – Slaughter Beach area and is a descendent of the earliest settlers of the area, starting with Alexander Draper. Linda graduated from Milford High School, obtained a B. S. in Education, and taught high school for 2 years before moving to Michigan, where she met her husband. Over the next 42 years, Linda held several positions in the manufacturing and industrial distribution divisions of businesses in the Metro Detroit area, including General Electric and TRW, and obtained an MBA from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. She ventured into ownership of industrial distributors and as a result was awarded 4 Supplier of the Year Awards from American Axle & Manufacturing. She and her husband moved back to Delaware in 2019 to a house in Slaughter Beach they purchased in 2007. Association with the Slaughter Beach Historical Society has given Linda the opportunity to research and document her extensive family history in Slaughter Beach, and preserve it for future generations. Linda and her brothers still own farms inherited from her great-grandfather, Charles E. Reed, and have accumulated historical information from her ancestors."
